Best Year Yet is successful because it ensures teams prepare, cultivate and transform the environment in which they operate. Too often teams set goals and objectives for the year ahead without ensuring that there is a possibility that they can actually achieve the goals, that the environment, the people, the desire are all conducive to success.

To ensure success the Best Year Yet program is based on five principals of transformation. The purpose is to transform the environment so that the goals that are set at the end of the exercise are sure to succeed and produce results. Therefore by following these principals you will ensure that your team becomes a learning team achieving results.

The principals of transformation are:

  1. Appreciate Success. We are usually quick to criticize, but slow to praise. Unless we appreciate our successes, a goal achieved, thanks obtained, an improved situation we will never truly understand what we are good at. Sometimes success is obtained ‘by luck’ and without analyzing how we obtained that success we will not be able to reproduce the results.
  2. Learn your lessons. Although we often concentrate on and remember where we slipped up we usually do not see the mistake as a learning opportunity. A mistake is usually seen as something that should be ignored and forgotten. By doing this we loose a valuable opportunity to learn and ensure that the mistake is not made again. Mistakes ensure that processes are changed, decisions are altered or objectives refined to accommodate our learnings.
  3. Shift your limiting assumptions. Too often we take an assumption and treat it as a fact. We base our action plans, our objectives on an incorrect base and then wonder why we don’t achieve the results we wanted. It is important that we examine each of our assumptions and change those that limit the results we wish to achieve. If you keep on trying to achieve a particular result with no success then there is probably a strong belief controlling and limiting your actions.
  4. Live your values. It is important that your actions and goals are consistent with your values. No person or team can be successful by trying to do something that they do not believe in. Your values come from your heart, listen to it.
  5. Set goals. The results you truly desire cannot be achieved unless you decide what you are working towards and set goals and action plans to achieve your vision. Setting goals is the last principal that will set you up for success.

What to Expect

Best Year Yet is a quick and cost effective method of transforming your team and achieving results. It has achieved proven results for over 25 years. If you decide that Best Year Yet is suitable for your team you can expect the following:

  • First, we will spend time with the team leader(s) determining how the Best Year Yet program can help your team achieve its objectives. Much of this will be covered before you even sign up for the program so you will know what to expect.
  • Using quick and effective assessments from CRG we will gain an understanding of the entire team, how each member works and how they work in a team. The assessments should take each team member no longer than 20 minutes to complete.
  • We will then schedule a two day workshop where the whole team will come together to create their shared vision. They will explore their direction by answering ten questions to establish what they are good at, what lessons they have learnt, what’s holding them back and then how to achieve their shared vision.
  • No team can change their behavior and results after a two day workshop. Change and transformation take time and practice, we follow up with the whole team on a monthly basis. We will sort out problems and ensure the team remains on the path to success. Each monthly follow up is also accompanied by a monthly lesson on management concepts that will allow each person to be more effective on their own and as part of the team.
  • The monthly meetings are not in addition to your current meetings, instead your current meetings are run within the Best Year Yet framework. You will find that your meetings will be shorter and more effective. They will produce results.
